Volunteer Opportunities

Through volunteering, you can explore new interests, develop employable skills, enrich your own education, discover new talents, have fun, and make a difference in your community. By becoming a volunteer for Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and our partners, you will not only be a steward of the marine ecosystem here, but will also help others learn about and care to protect this place too. In this way, you are helping to ensure a healthier future for Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Eco-Discovery Center Docent

Duties: Greet guests, host programs and activities, and assist with other duties in the center
Location: Key West, Florida
Time Commitment: Work a four-hour shift once per week

Outreach Team Volunteer

Duties: Work alongside our team of educators at events throughout the Keys
Location: Throughout the Keys

Do you have a special skill, such as GIS or buoy installation? We invite individuals with a variety of skills and interests to join our growing volunteer program.

Volunteer Requirements:

Pass a background check and fingerprint screening
Must be 16 years of age or older for docent and education team opportunities
Must be 18 years of age or older to participate in any water-based activity
