ReefBase is part of a research effort to develop criteria for assessing coral reef health, at national, regional and global scales. It is the official database of the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network, and directly addresses priority actions of the International Coral Reef Initiative, now endorsed by 75 governments. ReefBase aims to make reef information available to a wide audience to promote awareness and informed management of coral reef systems.
