The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers this course to train individuals on how to safely and appropriately help with the initial response to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of the release. Therefore, training focuses on defensive responses such as containing the release from a safe distance, preventing its spread, and preventing exposures rather than trying to stop the release itself. For those seeking annual recertification, requirements will be completed by 1:00. Certificates will be given at the end of each respective training session, and Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits will be given. To register or for more details, call 305-600-8441 or email keys.volunteers@gmail.com.
