NOAA Corps Officer



NOAA Corps Officer ENS Emily Bell joined the sanctuary in June 2020 as Unit Dive Supervisor. Previously assigned to the NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter, she served as the Navigation Officer, facilitating safe and efficient completion of missions. In addition to watch standing and navigation, her duties included Property Officer, rescue swimmer, diver, Ship Store Officer, and MWR Officer, among others.

Prior to joining NOAA, Emily worked as a marine science technician in environmental consulting, a research assistant studying tiger shark ecology and fish community structure at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Originally from Coronado, California, Emily graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor’s degree in marine science. She is an avid hiker and camper, enjoys underwater photography, and playing with her Labrador/Australian shepherd named Captain.
