Emily Kovacs joined FKNMS in October 2021 as Manager of the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center. She is helping to develop new and engaging exhibits, programming, and more.

Kovacs is passionate about nature and enriching the lives of both locals and visitors within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. After growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, she has embraced the Keys as her home for nearly a decade.

Before joining the Sanctuary, Kovacs spent over three years as the Community Outreach Coordinator at the History of Diving Museum in Islamorada, Florida, where she developed and hosted special events and exhibits, provided outreach to students, managed marketing projects, and wrote grants. Her love for the natural and cultural world is reflected through additional past employment as a children's naturalist and museum educator.

Kovacs studied Marine Environmental Technology and earned certifications in Professional Scientific Diving and AAUS Scientific Diving from the College of the Florida Keys.  She then graduated from the University of West Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology, and a minor in Fine Art.
When she isn't educating the public, you can find Kovacs diving, running, and creating marine themed artwork.
