Joe joined the sanctuary as a Marine Operations Technician in June of 2021, coming to us from Rainbow Reef Dive Center, where he managed all aspects of dive vessel operations as head captain. In 2011, Joe entered the professional realm of the dive industry by signing up for his Divemaster and Open Water Scuba Instructor courses. When offered a position at Ocean Divers in Key Largo, he jumped at the opportunity to move from Long Island, NY. Since then, Joe has been working his way up through the PADI Instructor ranks, earning numerous specialty instructor ratings, including PADI Master Instructor and EFR Instructor Trainer. Joe holds a 100-ton Master MMC with various endorsements, and has been expanding his experience as a captain over the last few years. He earned a B.B.A in Management and Leadership from Dowling College, and hopes to continue with his Master's degree in the not too distant future. Joe brings a wealth of knowledge and experience working on boats and navigating the Upper Keys waters, and we are thrilled to have him join our team in support of the buoy program. Having lived in the Key Largo area for the last ten years, Joe is excited for what this next chapter brings, and the opportunity to support restoration and conservation efforts that are being rolled out.
