Nicole manages the sanctuary’s volunteer program including those serving on the Sanctuary Advisory Council. Prior to joining the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary team, she held positions at the Walt Disney World Resort as an aquatic researcher and a marine biologist, taught multiple science and communication courses throughout graduate school, and acted as a program specialist with Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary managing volunteer, visitor center, and educational programs.

Nicole holds a masters degree in Biological Sciences from Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo where she studied the interaction between plastic pollutants and invertebrate development. Nicole’s passion lies in the connection between science, policy, and education, and she is excited to be managing volunteers, participating in education and outreach efforts, and contributing to resource protection initiatives.
