Crocodile Lake Wildlife Management Area
Located along the eastern shore of Card Sound, this area has the most extensive stands of tropical hardwood hammocks in the United States. It harbors a number of threatened and endangered species, including the American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) and West Indian manatee (Trichechus manatus latirostris).
There is a 100-foot no-access buffer zone along the shoreline between March 1 and October 1. Motorized vessels are prevented from approaching the shoreline.
